Well, previously we discussed that how manufacturer win from the side of customers, end users. Now, Its about government , Well, BIS is government organization so, the reporting system ends there. 

Each and every ISI product manufacturer have to perform tests on their products according to mentioned in ISI norms, Which is unique and different for each and everyone. And they have to send report to ISI or BIS authorities whenever they ask for. 

How it goes (according to rules)

• Manufacturer perform test ( May be or may be not).
• They prepare reports in standard format which is described by ISI.(They just make reports by referring to ISI norms. Means they add false values so that on paper their product is genuine ISI)
• They send their reports to ISI authorities and its done for this step.

Now this is just a step.

• BIS have inspection system. BIS send their representative to the manufacturing unit form inspection.
• Inspection is held after standard time of period decided by BIS.
• Now, this is interesting,  when ever inspection is held, BIS informs the manufacturer about Date and time when inspection will be held. 
• So, this how manufacturer gets information that they are coming and they are being prepared for that.
• As they know , they are  being prepared for inspection. They start to manufacture standard products according to ISI norms, so that inspection can get smooth.
• When the time arrives of  inspection, ISI representative goes to manufacturer unit. Now, at least we expect that ISI inspector would be highly acknowledged about everything he inspecting, But believe me, Sometimes, it happens that he or she does not know anything at all about it. 
• He comes, reads ISI norms, as he is not knowing any rules or norms at all. 
• He ask to perform  some tests. even though he does not knowing anything about it.
• He collects the sample form manufacturer. ( which obviously will be of standard quality and so much different form ones they supply in the market.
• He collects reports which they are maintaining during test.
• Then after he goes directly to the most senior designated authority of company and ask about bribe, Cash. As he is certain that manufacturers are not doing everything legal.
• He gets it and fill up his report as everything is going fine and according to rules.  

So, this is how customer thinks that he spent for good product ISI marked product(Which is only ISI marked product not ISI quality product).  Manufacturer is succeeded to clear his both, customer side and government side and he is gaining remarkable profit and He is also cleared from government side. BIS main authorities gets positive reports form their inspection representative and they are  convinced that everything going fine.

So, On paper this is WIN WIN FOR ALL, But actually its win only fr manufacturer and the one who is corrupted and yet respected ISI Inspection representative.

Its lose for US. 

Should not we think about it????

Reality of ISI Products around the market

  

THIS IS HOW THEY PLAY GAME AND ALWAYS WIN

Note :  As I Mentioned in the earlier one, this is not about every product in market with ISI or every manufacturer of the ISI products. So no offence to anyone at all(Perhaps offence to those who actually do some trickings :P )

I got some calls and mails ( I wonder not comments ) from those who might be felt offended but Why should I care? Why should any of us do.

Well, now to the point.

I know some truth about how they do it, the trickings and I think everyone should know that, Although I fell quite bit of shame that I was part of those trickings once but now I think I moved on from that manipulation.

Its the whole stream from customers to government.

Lets take example of RPVC Pipes, The ones which are used in underground drainage/sewage system. Ones in the pic. I hope we all have seen that.  These are Pipes made from Polyvinyl Chloride (Polymeric/Plastic Material).             Now, as every other products, this also have to pass through some criterias to get ISI label on that.  The code of this product in ISI is; IS:4985. Normally we can see following logo on these pipes.                                                                                                                                                                                                  

HOW THEY MANAGE??????.....

•  Manufacturers applies to BIS for ISI certification 
• BIS send an authority to the manufacturing unit for discussing the matter. Now authority goes to unit and discuss, till now everything is going according to system, the game is on now.  Authority sure discuss matter but along with that he simply ask for cash. Bribe. How Much??? Doesn't matter, And this bribe is just for starting up the procedure. Now, manufacturer is desperate for ISI Mark on the product, so He doesn't  argue or mind, He gives authority whatever he is asked for. It starts.
• Now, Manufacturer is quite free. That ISI authority does the work and make sure that he provides ISI certificate in return of the cash. 
• BIS office calls for sample from manufacturer. Now, it's damn obvious that he is going to send standard quality samples to BIS. Than BIS tests that product in their lab and as he sent perfect sample , he gets what he wants. BIG ISI CERTIFICATE.
• Now, Manufacturer raises rate because his products was NON ISI before but now ISI. So he assures his dealers and distributors that these pipes have better quality than previous ones. REALLY??????? No, Of course he has to improve quality of his pipes and he does, but not as much as ISI requires it to be. 
• Its obvious things that dealers and distributors are not the technical people who can analyse the quality.  So, Manufacturer made a small investment as bribe to authority and gets huge reward. 
• Next step is customers.  we all simply know one thing, ISI : DEFINITELY GOOD QUALITY PRODUCT and NON ISI : POOR QUALITY IN COMPARISON. So we being agreed to spend little more and buy good quality product instead. We are acting aware(Half aware)  and innocent  and that's what the advantage for manufacturers. 

I think Its clear that how we, the customers are being manipulated. So, manufacturer won the one side and they have to win another. The Government Side. 

Well, We don't practically control the manufacturers, but government does. Yet they manage to get through with it. 

HOW????? We will see it in next one. 

This is just a try towards reality. Hope at least few of readers will get it seriously.

PAY FOR GOODS, PAY GOOD ONLY FOR GOOD GOODS.

About ISI

As we all know, not know actually accepted that ISI products are better than non ISI ones. 

We should know what it is right????????

Well, ISI(Indian Standards Institute) is held under a governmental organization named BIS( Bureau Of Indian Standards). If a product wants to get approval of ISI mark than it has to pass through some criterias like different kind of testings as of Mechanical testing or chemical testing or electrical testing or so on. Every product in ISI comes with specified Grade. We normally see the symbol as per shown in fig. Well the middle large symbol is of ISI of course, The upper letters and number shows a code. This code is unique for each and every products on which ISI can be applicable. 

The letters and numbers below the ISI mark shows licence No. but it does not matter for us. It matters for manufacturers.

It is the time when most of the people would go for ISI and that is significantly great for everyone but its like mass manipulation. We know what we want, We think we got what we want but the truth is so different than it looks. It would be not right to blame each and every ISI products and each and every ISI product manufacturers but most of them are tricking and fooling. WHY??? Simple answer, If they go by ISI rules they get less profit and if they go by tricking as they normally do, they get what they ultimately want, BIG PROFIT MARGIN. 

It is the way when everyone is happy. Consumer or buyer thinks that he or she got quality products, Manufacturer gets profit and few or some or many BIS/ISI authorities get tonnes of money from different manufacturers.

Now just think about that, there are hundreds of thousands ISI products are available on market. How much money it will collect????  Its whole lit deep, complicated and shameful than we think. We only can get the quality products for which we pay full or even more, If we know actually what it is.

In my opinion Non ISI products are better than ISI products, coz at least we know that this product is having low quality. But with ISI marked product, you can never be so sure about.
